Yuvraj Singh, therefore, has named Rishabh Pant. As the most likeliest candidate to fit into Virat Kohli’s shoes when the time comes. About Pant, Yuvraj said that he is very expressive and lively behind the stumps. Also seem to have a smart brain in the way he led Delhi Capitals in 2021 IPL. Till it got postponed due to the pandemic and will now be held from September onwards.

“I also see Rishabh as a potential Indian captain. Because he is jumpy, chirpy, and talks around. But I feel he surely has a smart brain as well. Because I saw him when he was captaining in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. He did an incredible job. So, people should look at him as the next captain of the Indian team in the coming years,” Yuvraj said.

Pant had a brief up and down period after his Indian debut. But he finally sealed his spot after his breakout series vs Australia in 2021 in which his two successive 4th innings brilliance. Finally helped India to win the series on Australian soil.

It now remains to be seen whether Pant retains his captaincy for Delhi Capitals. Since the original captain Shreyas Iyer is expected to be back after his shoulder injury suffered in the England series in March 21. Due to which he did not play in any matches of the unfinished 2021 edition and Pant led the team.
