WTC final : India’s qualification hopes hangs in balance after 3rd test loss

Australia defeated India by 9 wickets in the third test match.  With this, Australia has also opened its account in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.  Although the Indian team is ahead 2-1 in the 4-match series despite this defeat, but after losing the Indore Test, a sword hangs over India.  

 Australia has entered the final of the World Test Championship after winning in Indore, but with this loss India’s fate hangs in balance.

 India will now have to wait for the fourth Test to make it to the finals.  In a way, the fourth Test of the series will be like the semi-finals of this big ICC event for India.  To reach the final of the championship, India will have to register a win in the fourth and last Test match of the series to be played in Ahmedabad from 9 March.

 India and Sri Lanka in the race

If India loses or draws in the fourth Test, then it will have to rely on its luck, because Sri Lanka team is also there along with India in the final race.  Even if the Ahmedabad Test remains a draw, the difficulties will increase for India.  With this, the doors of the final will open for Sri Lanka. However, Sri Lanka will need to win both their tests they will play in New Zealand .

 Sri Lanka has to play 2 Test matches against New Zealand this month and if it makes a clean sweep of the Kiwi team, then its chances for the final of the World Test Championship will increase.  With 68.52 per cent marks, Australia entered the finals on top.  At the same time, India is in second place with 60.29 percent marks and Sri Lanka is in third place with 53.33 percent marks.
