Williamson to miss 2nd test

New Zealand will be without the services of Kane Williamson for the 2nd test vs England as was earlier apprehended. His left elbow niggle has not healed and the management has rightly decided him to rest so that he is 100% fit for the WTC final against India.

Mitchel Santner also misses out owing to his finger injury.

New Zealand will bring in Will Young at number 3 who has made two first-class 100s for Durham this season while leg spinner Ajaz Patel replaces Santner. Tom Latham will lead the side in 2nd test. Williamson to miss 2nd test, “hopes” to be fit for WTC final.

Tim Southee will also be rested for the WTC final. Hence Boult will play in the XI with chances of Matt Henry replacing Kyle Jamieson, who might also be rested.

For England, Ollie Robinson misses out due to disciplinary action for his old racist tweets. Quick bowler Ollie Stone should replace him. Also, there is a possibility of Jack Leach coming in depending on the pitch conditions at Edgbaston.
