The 5th day of first test was much in focus as the West Indies very recently managed a great chase of 395 target  in Bangladesh by winning that test . However at North Sound against a relatively more superior and disciplined Sri Lankan bowling attack , the hosts after losing Braithwaite (23) at 78/2 in 1st hour , they took the safety option first and was never allowed to really get away against a discliplined Srilankan attack.  Nkrumer Bonner scored a patient century showing great temperament and took the hosts to safely in the company of Kyle Mayers who scored a fine 52. Incidentally Mayers with his sensational double hundred was the hero of the Bangladesh run chase but today he played the waiting game and showed good temperament as the match ended in a draw.

This was a quality test match. Srilanka after being on the ropes for 1st two days staged a great fightback first through the bowling of Lakmal in the West Indies 1st innings and then through strong batting performance in 2nd innings led by Nissanka , Thirimanne and Dickwella . However the tourists did not have that extra pace in their attack to knock over the West Indies on last day .
