Weather saves pathetic Srilanka from further disgrace as a 3rd ODI gets called off for rains.

Srilanka after yet another poor batting performance was all set to get hammer by England for a 0-3 ODI series. Whitewash before rains intervened and continued in the 2nd half to force a no result in the 3rd ODI.

Only one innings was complete in the match as Srilanka were skittle out for 166 in 41 overs. Once again the top order misfired against top-quality seam bowling from Chris Woakes and David Willey. Srilanka slumped to 87/6 before a late order revival by Dasun Shanaka (48). Who took Srilanka past 150 with some support from Chameera (16).

For England, Tom Curran after few unproductive games finally hit the right lengths to take 4/35. Well supported by Woakes and Willey who took 2 wickets each. Weather saves pathetic Srilanka from further disgrace as a 3rd ODI gets called off for rains.

This was another very poor tour for the Sri Lankan team. Their cricketing standards have hit an all-time low and it is now hard to believe that in 2019 only they became the first Asian team to win a Test series on South African soil after Kusal Parera’s epic 153 . Currently, the one-time world champions are struggling to beat teams like Afghanistan and Bangladesh. And will have to play the T20I world cup qualifying rounds in order to qualify for the main draw of the event in October 2021. It was even more disturbing for the Srilankan cricket to note that Afghanistan have already qualify ahead of them for the main draw of the tournament to be held in UAE .

Nothing was more disgraceful than the way they lost their last wicket through a tame runout in the final washed out game . The body language and lack of cohesion in the team was clear from the dismissal as shared below.
