Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan has praised India’s legendary batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. Both are currently playing for the same team in the County Championship Division 2. Rizwan and Pujara had signed deals with Sussex this year. After this, Pujara looked in excellent form during the championship. He has scored 717 runs in seven innings of four matches including two double centuries and two centuries. During this his average was 143.40.
Rizwan said that he was inspired after seeing Pujara. Praising Pujara, Rizwan said that he is a very calm and good-natured person. If you get a chance to learn something from Pujara, it is his concentration and focus. I have also told the coach that in my life till now I have seen only three people so focused on cricket. It includes Younis Bhai, Fawad Alam and Pujara.
Rizwan said – Pujara is second in my list in terms of concentration and focus. I would like to put Fawad in third place. I consider these players very highly rated. Rizwan and Pujara recently shared a 154-run partnership against Durham while playing for Sussex. It attracted the attention of the whole world. Cricket fans described it as a beautiful moment to see the India-Pakistan batsmen playing together.
Rizwan said that he had also talked to Pujara about the technique after being dismissed early in a match. On this Pujara told him that he should play the balls close to his body. Due to the huge gap between the bat and his body, he was getting out early. Rizwan said- We all know that in the last few years we have played a lot of limited overs cricket.
Rizwan said – In ODIs and T20s, the balls do not swing much, so we do not play close to our bodies. That was the reason why I got out twice in the county in the same way. Pujara gave me advice, which helped me and made me very happy. After this, Rizwan jokingly also said that what Pujara has learned from him, only Pujara will be able to tell. Rizwan received the ICC Player of the Year Award for the year 2021.
