Wasim Jaffer comes out with interesting choice for opening spot in 2nd Ind v NZ  test

Since Virat Kohli will return in the Indian XI as the captain in the 2nd test at Mumbai , debates are on in media circles as to who has to be replaced .  Before the first test , it was a forgone conclusion that Shreyas Iyer will make way once Kohli is available but now after his two outstanding match defining knocks of 105 & 65 at Kanpur  , it’s a big step if Iyer has to go out .

Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian opener has found an interesting way out .  He has mentioned at if Wriddhiman Saha ,who has played a stellar knock of 61 notout in the second test inspite of a stiff neck , is fit and plays at Mumbai , he should be the makeshift opener for this game if Mayank is replaced .  Mayank Agarwal had an ordinary match at Kanpur and so he will be a much less controversial drop compared to Iyer who was the man of the match at Kanpur .
Jaffer said ,that if Saha is asked to open , then no other batter will bat out of position . as then Pujara will be able to bat 3 instead of opening for Mayank and  Kohli, Rahane & Iyer can bat at 4, 5, & 6 respectively .

This is an alternative which Jaffer has suggested instead of dropping Rahane and Shreyas Iyer

It is a very interesting suggestion by Wasim Jaffer and it remains to be seen how the whole situation is currently handled after Kohli is back in the XI
