Former Indian batting star VVS Laxman was surprised at Virat Kohli ‘s handling of handling of his bowlers in the 2nd ODI which India lost.
Laxman said that after India got the breakthroughs late in the innings , Kohli should have continued with fast bowlers rather than bringing back his off colour spinners .
VVS surprised at Hardik not bowling in the match at all which Kohli clarified post match that Hardik not bowling was a part of load management for more important future international calendar.
VVS surprised at Hardik and said”I was little surprised why Hardik Pandya did not bowl. Because you know Kuldeep Yadav and Krunal Pandya were under pressure from both the batsmen from both ends. You wanted to break that monotony. That’s why I was surprised he was not even given 4-5overs. I know it is important to manage his workload, but winning this match is as important as managing his workload,” Laxman said.
Laxman was highly impressed with the way Rishabh Pant accelerated at the back end of the Indian innings and his increasing range of shots
Very impressive from Rishabh Pant and right from the word go. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli laid the foundation but the momentum had to be shifted and that was done by Rishabh Pant,” Laxman said.
What I was most impressed with was his range of shots. In the past we have seen him favouring the on side but in this innings, and in the other two formats as well, that he has got a good range now. It’s very difficult for any bowler to bowl to Rishabh Pant.
“His partnership with KL and Hardik is the reason why India have got 336. Brilliant knock from someone who is playing his first ODI after so many months,” Laxman added.
