Cricket is a gentlemen’s game but sports sometimes, can become rough around the edges and this is what happened during the 5th T20I match between England and India. Team India, the host country had already taken the lead on the match with 225 runs and England was trying hard to chase this great number. During this critical time, Jos Butler’s wicket caused a heated verbal exchange between the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, and England’s star batsman Jos Buttler.

Bhuvenshwar Kumar was bowling and Jos Buttler was at the other end of the pitch. It was a crucial time for England because, with Buttler on the pitch, England was seeming to gain control over the match. England had collected 130 runs in 12.5 overs and the chasing 225, the score gave the team hope.

BUTTLER’S FALL CAUSED THE ARGUMENT

From the very beginning, England’s chances were looking bleak. The match seemed to be one-sided with India’s massive score. But for a brief time, England gained hope that somehow they could win the match back. This was the time when Dawid Malan and Jos Buttler established a solid partnership. But England’s and Buttler’s dream shattered as soon as Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Buttler. Buttler had struck the ball to Hardik Pandya in the deep and this hit became a turning point in the match.

Buttler did not take this hit well and muttered something to Kohli. Kohli did not take it easy and both were seen arguing for a little while on the ground. Buttler, after some time, made his move and walked back to the pavilion.

But Kohli was not done yet. Later he was seen talking to the umpire too. What transpired on the ground was not new for cricket but the talk between the umpire, Nitin Menon, and captain Kohli might give way to few more interesting turns in this game.

KOHLI FOR THE TEAM

Meanwhile, the skipper praised his team for playing so brilliantly. He called it a “complete game” for the team. He did not hold back and said that the Indian team “Totally outplayed the opposition”. The conditions were surely not favorable. There was a lot of dew coming in but like the last game, the Kohli-led team saves the match again. Kohli also stressed the fact that Iyer and Rishabh did not get a chance to play and still the team could build an impressive score of 225, which is incredible.
