Vikas Dixit’s century helped LB Shastri reached the semi-finals of Om Nath Sood cricket

New Delhi: LB Shastri Cricket Club entered the semi-finals of the 31st All India Hatkari Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament being played at the Rashtriya Swabhiman Khel Parisar ground. Last year’s runners-up LB Shastri Cricket Club defeated the Indian Navy, Visakhapatnam by a close margin of 10 runs with help of all-round performance of Vikas Dixit (100 and 2 wickets) and Priyansh Arya (41 runs and 3 wickets).

Chief Guest and Sales Director of Hitkari Deepak Joshi presented the Kuber Man of the Match award to Vikas Dixit. Special guests Amit Rastogi and Dimple Gupta presented consolation prizes to Priyansh Arya and Varun Chaudhary.

After getting an invitation to bat first, L.B. Shastri Cricket Club put up a total of 289 for 5 wickets in the scheduled 40 overs. Captain Vikas Dixit hit 100 runs in 84 balls by hitting 2 sixes and 10 fours. Jonti Sidhu smashed 62 runs off 46 balls with the help of two sixes and 5 fours. Hiten Dalal scored 57 runs off 74 balls with the help of 8 fours. Priyansh Arya smashed 41 runs off 32 balls with the help of 8 fours. For the Indian Navy, Nishan Singh took two wickets for 53 runs.

In reply, despite useful innings by Nakul (49), Arun Bamal (49), Varun Chaudhary (47), Mohit Ahlawat (45) and Hardik Sethi (36 runs), the Navy team went all-out for 279 runs in 39.5 overs and lost by a close margin of ten runs. The Navy’s team required 11 runs in the final over. But Ansh Chaudhary got the last player stumped out without giving runs in 5 balls. Priyansh took three wickets, Vikas Dixit and Rajat Khakhadia took 2 wickets.
