South Africa won the 3 match T20I series 2-1 by defeating hosts England by a huge margin of 90 runs in the third and deciding T20I in Southampton.  The hero of Africa’s victory was Tabrez Shamsi, who spent 24 runs in the quota of 4 overs and showed 5 English batsmen the way to the pavilion.  Batting first, South Africa had set a target of 191 runs in front of England with the help of belligerent half-centuries from Reeza Hendricks  (70) and Aidan Markram (51 *).  In front of this score, the entire team of England was bundled out for 101 runs in 16.4 overs.  Shamsi was awarded the Man of the Match award for his excellent performance, while Hendricks became the Man of the Series for scoring the maximum runs .

England captain Jos Buttler won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first.  South African batsmen proved Buttler’s decision wrong and scored 191 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.  South Africa did not have a good start, in the very first over, Quinton de Kock returned to the pavilion without opening an account.  David Willey dismissed him. Reeza Hendricks then added 55 runs for the second wicket with Rossouw (31) and 87 runs for the third wicket with Markram and there were some exciting strokeplay by all the South African batters . Captain Miller finally scored 22 runs in 9 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six to take the team to this formidable score after the top order had set up a strong base .

Butler (14) and Roy (17) gave a good start to the England team chasing the target, adding 28 runs fast . However both were dismissed at the wrong time as Nortje was bowling with great pace and Shamsi was beginning to spin his web   Barring Jonny Bairstow, no English player could stay at the crease after the openers were dismissed and at no stage of the innings there was no momentum in the England’s innings . The Proteas fielded excellently and there was a breathtaking catch taken by new star Tristan Stubbs who took Moeen Ali’s leading edge airborne parallel to the ground in the mid wicket region. The video of that astonishing catch can be seen below .

Bairstow scored 27 runs in 30 balls with the help of 2 fours – a very slow effort by his standards .  The entire England team was bundled out for 101 runs in 16.4 overs.  Apart from Shamsi’s fifer, Keshav Maharaj took the highest two wickets for South Africa and they thrashed England by 90 runs on foreign soil  and announced that they will be a formidable force during the upcoming  T20I World cup .
