Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma has set the WBBL on fire !! Both the Indian players got player of the match awards in the latest WBBL matches on weekend . Not only the above two, other Indian players like Jemimah Rodrigues , Smriti Mandhana and Radha Yadav have performed creditably in the latest round of games.
Harmanpreet Kaur was at her best in the Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Srikers match at Lilac Hill Perth . After getting 2/31 with her off spin in a challenging total of 160 posted by Strikers, Harman was at her best with the willow, hammering 73 notout off 46 balls with 3 fours and 5 massive sixes of which 4 hit on leg side and one straight down the ground . Harman finished the match in the final over in an exciting chase . In the same innings Jemimah Rodrigues scored a quickfire 27 off 16 balls, full of crisp shots , opening the innings for Renegades .
In another match against Hobart Hurricanes , Smriti Mandhana scored a classy run a ball 50 with 4 fours and 1 six for Sydney Thunder . In the same innings Deepti Sharma hammered a 15 ball 20 to take the Thunder to 146. Deepti ‘s tight off spin totally choked the Hurricanes as the finished only at 109 and lost by 37 runs , with Deepti taking 3/13 in 4 overs and with a catch to boot to get the player of the match award.
On the same day ,Sydney Sixers won a crucial game vs Perth Scorchers by 44 runs defending 161 . For Sixers Indian left arm spinner Radha Yadav took 2/22 in 4 overs of economical bowling and took a catch .
In Saturdays matches too , Harmanpreet and Jemimah performed well vs Sixers . Jemimah opening the batting scored 25 off 27 balls and Harmanpreet scored a classy 43 off 32 balls with 4 fours and a 6 and bowled economically (0/19 in 3 overs) . Both Harman and Jemimah took a catch each in Sixers innings . For the Sixers , Radha Yadav took the wicket of Harmanpreet caught and bowled brilliantly to finish 1/27 in 4 overs of tight bowling . However Sixers fell 12 runs short with Shafali Verma getting a 20 off 15 balls batting in middle order as her struggle in WBBL continues .
Deepti Sharma had another good weekend game for Thunders vs Melbourne Stars getting 3/25 in 4 overs and scoring 16 in 14 balls in a low scoring game which Thunder won by 19 runs .
