Video : Sania Mirza joins RCB WPL team as mentor, interacts with players

Sania Mirza has entered the world of cricket.  Just a day before the start of the Women’s Premier League, Sania joined Royal Challengers Bangalore as a mentor.  She also had her first interactions with the players .  The Indian veteran tennis star was appointed by the franchise as the mentor of RCB before the start of the tournament.  The franchise shared the video of Sania’s first class on social media.

 The Indian star said that she had retired a few days ago and now the aim of her life is to work for women’s sports in the country.  They have to be motivated.  Sania further said that if anyone wants to talk about something then I am here.  I can give the number, if I am not here we can chat.  I am here as a friend.

 Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Sophie Devine asked Sania how difficult it was to decide on retirement.  The Indian star said that I was ready.  I also have a son and the last one year has been full of difficulties.  I had 3 surgeries.  Sania revealed that she really wanted to stop playing after the Australian Open.  After meeting the team, Sania also attended the practice session.

Sania had said goodbye to her 20-year tennis career in Dubai only last week.  Australian Open 2023 was the last Grand Slam of her career, where she reached the final of mixed doubles with Rohan Bopanna.  Sania ended her tennis career with 6 Grand Slam titles.  She is the only Indian woman to make it to the top 100 in women’s singles.  She is the former world number 27 player in singles.  Sania has also been the number one doubles player in the world.
