Vengsarkar advocates for 6 specialists batters in the next test
Former Indian batting great Dilip Vengsarkar, who himself had great successes in England averaging 48 there in tests and had 3 hundreds at Lords, Vengsarkar advocates for 6 specialists batters in the next test .
Stressing on the need for an extra batter to cover the repeated batting failures in England in the current series, Dilip said he would bring in one extra batter instead of a bowler . In other words Vengsarkar prescribes India to go in with just 4 bowling options.
Vengsarkar suggested the name of Surya Kumar Yadav as the 6th batter ahead of Vihari as Yadav has shown great batting form in recent times at all levels of cricket, and averaging 44 in first class cricket. He said that Surya has the talent and the temperament to match the best.
“Surya can match (in terms of skills) with the best in this Indian team. Since he’s around for sometime now he should be included before it’s too late,” Vengsarkar said.
The two teams will play the fourth Test starting from September 2nd at the Oval .
