Varun Chakravarthy becomes the talk of the town
India vs Sri Lanka T20I series started on Sunday and it couldn’t begin any better for India. Team India has already taken the lead by winning the first match by 38 runs. The batsmen did a fantastic job but the bowlers also did outstanding on the Sri Lankan pitch. Varun Chakravarthy in particular grabbed everyone’s attention by picking up Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka’a wicket. Dasun had to go back to the pavilion with only 28 runs leaving Sri Lanka short of one major wicket.
India posted 164 at the end of 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan’s 46 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 50 helped India build this score. On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 4/22 and Deepak Chahar’s 2/24 knocked the wind out of the Sri Lankan team. The Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Krunal Pandya also took one wicket each. And helped restrict the flow of runs from the Sri Lankan side.
Let’s talk about the third Indian spinner who took quite an important wicket and gave India a head start in the game. Varun Chakravarthy finally made his Team India debut and with quite a roar. Chakravarthy first made a name for himself playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the India Premier League. Varun Chakravarthy becomes the talk of the town as he takes Dasun Shanaka’s wicket in his debut match.
Due to failed fitness tests, he could not make his debut in the Indian team. Earlier but now he has come to the forefront and with a bang!
Chakravarthy picked the wicket of Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka and sent him back with 28/1. Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman couldn’t hold himself back from praising this debutant. He said that he was really happy that Varun Chakravarthy got his opportunity. Said that he has a mystery to bowling technique and that is something that gives the fans and experts a lot to talk about.
He also mentioned his talk with the Sunrisers batsmen. And said that they all had expressed happiness over the way Varun bowled in different parts and phases of the match. Laxman also said that Varun has the expertise to bowl with the new ball. He can “take wickets whenever the captain and the team wants to break a partnership” which means that the man has got an “X-factor”. As per Laxman, Varun deserves more opportunities in the international game. He should not be burdened with great expectations each time but should be given time to groom himself.
