Uncertainty in Srilankan cricket as players refuse to sign tour contract
Srilanka’s fortunes in international cricket have continuously dipped in the last 3-4 years with only isolated occasional good performance in the midst of regular mediocre results.
To make matters worse, the Srilankan cricketers preparing for the white ball series England tour in July has refused to sign on the tour contract.
The Srilankan cricketers alleged the lack of transparency and that the contract excluded some deserving performers. They also declared unilaterally that they will not sign any future tour contracts.
The players also said that the remunerations offered to the players are much poorer compared to players of other countries.

The chairman of the cricket advisory committee, the former batting great, Aravinda D Silva defended. The new pay system and said that harsh decisions had to be taken due to Srilanka’s serious dip in world rankings across all formats.
The board had disclosed the date of June 3rd. As the deadline to sign the contracts but that deadline is already breached.
