Cricket experts and fans have a recent general view that ODI cricket will soon get extinct  as fans are more obsessed with T20 cricket , especially due to so many attractive T20 leagues being played around the world and the fact that T20 cricket is less time consuming than ODI cricket which goes on for 7 hours .


However ODI cricket still gives it’s own thrills and the ODI World cup , that is held every 4 years , still carries more weight than the T20 World cup which is held every 2 years .

ODI cricket also has showcased many sensational knocks & bowling spells across  decades .  In recent times we have seen batters scoring at fast pace and 300 run scores have become  very common in the 50 overs format.

Few days back , a  UAE batsman has entered the top-5 list by scoring a century on 41 balls in ODI cricket.  Let’s know the list of five players who scored the fastest hundreds in this format:-


 5- Mark Boucher- Former South African wicketkeeper batsman Mark Boucher scored a 44-ball century against Zimbabwe.  He is on the fifth position in this list in 2006-07

 4- Asif Khan- UAE batsman Asif Khan scored a 41-ball century against Nepal in the ODI World Cup 2023 qualifier.

 3- Shahid Afridi- This record of former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi lasted for years.  He scored a 37-ball century against Sri Lanka in 1996

 2- Corey Anderson- New Zealand’s Corey Anderson broke Shahid Afridi’s year-old record by scoring a 36-ball ODI century against the West Indies in 2014 

 1- AB de Villiers- AB de Villiers, the star player of South Africa, scored a century against the West Indies in just 31 balls in 2014/15  This is still a world record in ODI cricket.
