Boundaries and sixes are of highest importance for any top batsman in T20 cricket and IPL is no exception. Batters having the ability to smash sixes are always in massive demand. IPL has seen some outstanding innings full of six hitting in its14 year history. We pick the top five instances below of most six hitting in an innings

1-Chris Gayle 17 sixes against Pune warriors M Chinnaswamy Stadium 23 April 2013

Gayle plundered 175 runs v Pune Warriors off 66 balls in which he smashed 17 sixes which is still the record for highest number of sixes in an innings in IPL history. RCB scored 263/5 and Pune struggled to 133/9 to lose by big margin

2-Brendon McCullum 13 Sixes Against Rcb M Chinnaswamy 18 April 2008

This was the most memorable match, the 1st ever match in IPL history in 2008. McCullum destroyed the RCB bowling to score 158 off 73 balls and hit 13 mighty sixes. KKR scored 222/3 and bowled out RCB for 82.

3-ChrisGayle 13 Sixes Against Delhi capital 17 May 2012 Arun jaitley stadium

Chris Gayle played another destructive innings of 128 off 62 balls and hit 13 huge sixes equalling McCullum’s 2008 record . RCB scored 215/1 but Delhi batted very well in chase scoring 194/5 to lose by only 21 runs

4 – Ab de Villiers 12 Sixes against Gujrat Lions 14 May 2016 M Chinnaswamy

AB de Villiers smashed 129notout off 52 balls vs Gujarat Lions in 2016 . He used great improvisation hitting 12 sixes to destroy Gujarat bowling. RCB piled on 248/3 and bowled out Lions for 104

5- Chris Gayle 12 sixes against Punjab Kings 6 May 2015 M Chinnaswamy

Another Gayle slogathon of 117 off 57 balls smashing 12 sixes as RCB piled on 226/3 and bowled out Punjab for 88
