This is India’s finest bowling attack ever: Akash Chopra
Former Indian opener Akash Chopra has hailed the current Indian bowling attack which he has described as the finest ever in the history of Indian cricket.
Chopra said that during the 2000s India had two great spinners in Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble. But did not have the big deluge of fast bowlers hunting together in packs. He mentioned that there were fine fast bowlers like Zaheer Khan. Which whom there was Ajit Agarkar sometimes. There was Ashis Nehra or RP Singh at other times but there was never a collective strength of fast bowlers then like one sees now.
Currently, there are not only 3 or 4 playing together but another 3 or 4 if equal quality waiting in the sidelines, Chopra said referring to the Indian fast bowling group of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur with Prasidh Krishna as standby. Chopra added that even in the spin stocks one has Ravi Ashwin who is on par with Harbhajan Singh. Though Kumble is a far greater bowler than Jadeja. That difference is more than made up by the fast bowling stocks that India has at the moment.
“I don’t think India has had a better bowling line-up than this in their cricket history. Yes, this is the best ever,” Chopra concluded .
