The Sri Lanka v West Indies 1st test at North Sound Antigua is turning out to be an interesting one. On first day SriLanka struggled to put up a good score on board but got 169 allout due to superb spell of fast bowling by West Indies’two most dependable fast bowlers Kemar Roach (3/47) and former captain Jason Holder (5/27) . The duo rattled the Srilankan batting and only opener Thirrimane (70) put up a strong resistance.
In reply , the West Indies had their chances to bat out Srilanka from the game . However promising build ups were not converted . John Campbell (46) , Kyle Mayers (45) , Joshua D Silva (46) failed to convert their starts. In the end it took Rakhim Cornwall (61) to get West Indies a crucial 102 run lead as they made 271.
With a 102 run deficit Srilanka lost Karunaratne early but Thirrimane (76) and Oshada Fernando (91) ensured a great comeback with a fabulous 162 run stand till Roach bowled Thirrimane which triggered a collapse as 3 wickets fell for 19 runs with Mayers taking 2/10. However Dhananjaya D Silva (46notout) and Nissanka (21*) ensured no further damages as the tourists reached 255/4 . A lead of 153 with 6 wickets in hand . The 4th day of the test is going to be extremely vital for both teams .
