Sri Lanka vs India ODI series has just concluded with India beating Sri Lanka 2-1 and the series has brought good news for some players. Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw who stole everybody’s heart with their splendid performance have been called up to join the Test team in England. It is going to be Yadav’s maiden Test for India. Both the players have been called up as replacements by the management as three players have been ruled out due to injuries.

Shubhman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan will not be playing in the ongoing tur anymore. The Test series is scheduled to start on August 4.

The three players have injured themselves which makes them unfit for the game. Gill is out of the team due to shin splints he received during the World Test Championship against New Zealand, Avesh Khan has a dislocated thumb and Washington Sundar has aggravated his finger injury.  Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw will soon join the Indian team.

Now the calculation says that three players should join the team in England but only Yadav and SXhaw are being called up. Jayant Yadav was supposed to go to England for the upcoming Test for the reasons unknown, right now, it is only Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw who have got the great opportunity to play for India in a Test series.

A BCCI official has confirmed the news of Yadav and Shaw flying to England and Jayant staying back. The source said that Jayant is being held back due to quarantine requirements. We also got to know that both the players will have a bubble to bubble transfer from Colombo to London. The date of their departure is not fixed yet but they sure will be joining the team UK.

It is believed that Mayank Agarwal could have been the first choice for this replacement but his form is not the greatest at the moment. On the other hand, Shaw has impressed the management and fans alike with his performance in Sri Lanka.

It is also a guessing game whether Shaw and Yadav would be able to play in the first Test or not considering the current quarantine rules.

The team wants to be fully prepared, keeping the options ready. Ajinkya Rahane’s hamstring injury will make Suryakumar Yadav useful at some point in the series. The team has KL Rahul too who will play in Nottingham in case Rahane misses the first match.
