In the month of May, the ICC has been paying tributes to its Hall of Fame inductees by releasing a short video on the cricketer and their latest release on Adam Gilchrist. Who was inducted into the ICC hall of fame in 2013 had many past and present cricketers showering accolades on the Australian superstar.

Michael Vaughan described Gilchrist as a player who changed the concept of wicket keepers. Vaughan said that Gilly completely changed the benchmark of the keepers. India’s spin superstar Ashwin was impress by Gilchrist’s ability to play spin extremely well. And was in awe of his sporting spirit on the field of play by walking whenever he knew he nicked the ball. Ashwin called him a great ambassador to the game.

Perhaps the biggest accolade came from one of the greatest fast bowlers across eras, Wasim Akram. The Pakistani legend admitted that it was very difficult to bowl to Adam Gilchrist.

Akram said :” If you pitch him short, he’ll play a pull shot, if you bowl slightly wide. He’ll play a cut shot, and if you try to adjust your length and slightly pitch it up a bit, he’ll hit you straight on the up.”


Gilchrist was one of the greatest cricketers across eras. Scoring around 15000 runs in 396 internationals across formats with 33 100s and effected 905 dismissals. In just 12 years of international cricket.
