Sri Lanka leads WTC (2021-23) points table as per latest position : Know the rules

 

In the first match of the Ashes series, after beating the arch-rivals England by nine wickets, Australia has made a strong entry in the World Test Championship points table.  This was Australia’s first Test match this season.  With this victory on the fourth day of Brisbane Test, Australia has got 12 points. 

 The number one team is Sri Lanka, which has achieved the top position by winning both its matches vs West Indies  .

 This time the ICC has made a slight change in the points system.  12 points will be given on winning the match this time.  6 points in case of tie, 4 points in case of draw and no points in case of loss.  

On the other hand, if we talk about the percentage of points, Team gets 100 points if they  win a test , 50 in case of a  tie, 33.33 in case of a draw and no points for losses  .


  Teams positon will be decided on the basis of percentage of points and not in absolute points .  

In a further added rule to improve over rates , teams will be deducted one  point  for  each over bowled short . Hence , teams specially those with relies more on pace like Australia , England , South Africa and New Zealand has to be very sensitive about this development
