Sri Lanka board surprised at selection of Hasaranga & Chameera for IPL

In a surprise turn of events, the Sri Lanka cricket board has expressed its surprise over the selection of two of its key players Wahindu Hasaranga and Dushmanta Chameera by RCB in the IPL 2021 which will resume next month. The SLC secretary Mohan de Silva said that neither of the two players have applied for any NOC with SLC to get their go-ahead.

Mohan de Silva said,  “I don’t know, I have to check. We are under lockdown till the end of the month. They have not taken any decision yet as they will have to apply for the NOCs. We are not aware of these players being selected, neither have they sought permission from us.”

Sri Lanka Board wants all their key players to be fit during the world cup. As a part of preparations, Sri Lanka will be hosting South Africa from September 2 to 14 for a series of 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs. In which they will obviously want both Hasaranga and Chameera to play. The IPL will resume 5 days after the South Africa v Sri Lanka series. Sri Lanka board surprised at selection of Hasaranga & Chameera for IPL.

Thus the RCB fans will have to wait for a while longer. Before celebrating the joining of the Sri Lanka duo. On the other side, if  SLC refuses to issue NOC with the World cup preparations on the horizon, then RCB may have to scamper around for last-minute overseas replacements.
