Poor bowling and fielding cost India during their 1st T20I against South African girls. South Africa won by 8 wickets to take 1-0 lead in the series.
Batting 1st India began well with Smriti Mandhana hitting 2 silky boundaries on the offside but got out fir 11 off 9 balls cheaply. Shafali Verma (23) could not produce her famous powerhitting . There was a good 3rd wicket stand between Harleen Deol (52 off 47 balls ) and Jemima Rodrigues (30). Deol played impressive shots all round the wicket and Jemima finally got few runs after a bad patch but India missed the powerhitting of injured captain Harmanpreet who missed the match . India were restricted to 130/6 with Shabnim Ismail (3/14) turned out to be the most impressive bowler. Bosch also took 2 wickets.
South Africa chased down the modest target without breaking a sweat with Anneke Bosch ( 66 notout ) and Suun Lewis (43) producing a fine 90 run stand comprising of powerful strokeplay on the on side . At the end South Africa crossed the line with 5 balls to spare to win by 8 wickets and take 1-0 lead in 3 match series . Anneke Bosch was the player of the match .
