South African players might be in doubt for IPL 2021
Immediately after the end of the India series, the Sri Lankan cricket board has announced a 6 match white ball series with South Africa at home. This series is likely to be in the first 12 days of September. This has put a dampener on the participation of several South African players in the phase two of IPL 2021.
The phase 2 of IPL 2021 is starting on September 19th and the South Africa series with Sri Lanka if held on schedule without any covid related hiccups is supposed to end on September 12. This means the IPL players of South Africa will be going for a bubble to bubble transfer in UAE. However, with covid rules being very strict in the Emirates. It remains to be seen whether the local organisers in UAE will allow the same.
If the bubble to bubble transfer is not allowed. Then the South African cricketers will have to go through the full quarantine rules. Before taking the ground and as a result, are likely to miss several games with their respective franchise. South African players might be in doubt for IPL 2021 due to the Sri Lanka series. .
Quinton D Kock, Van Dussein, David Miller, Rabada and Nortje are some of the South African players. Who are expected to play in the event.
Hence the players themselves and the IPL teams will be waiting in hope. That the whole process of quarantine does not face too many bottlenecks and the players are available fully.
There has been good news from New Zealand on the participation of their IPL players for the full duration in the UAE. However, uncertainties linger with England and to some extent Australia.
