Sneh Rana & Shafali Verma amongst ICC player of the month for June nominees

ICC in recent times has introduced votings for their nominations of players of the month in both men & women category before announcing their verdict. For the June month nominations, we have 2 Indian women as nominees and both of them had outstanding test debuts against England in June. They are Sneh Rana and 17-year-old Shafali Verma.

Shafali had an excellent test debut scoring 96 & 63 which went a long way in drawing the test against England at Bristol last month. Her unbridled strokeplay reminded everyone of the great Virender Sehwag but she also proved that she can be rock solid in defence also. Later she scored a find 44 in one of the ODIs

Sneh Rana helped to get middle-order wickets after England started well in the 1st innings of that test. She got 4 wickets but it was her outstanding match-saving knock of 80 not out in the 2nd innings. That got all the accolades after that things saved India from a certain defeat in the test.

As if that knock was not enough Rana played a priceless cameo of 24 runs. And her partnership with Mithali Raj helped India to get a close win in the final ODI. Sneh Rana & Shafali Verma amongst ICC player of the month for June nominees.

Sofie Ecclestone of England is the 3rd nominee. She accentuated India’s collapse in the 1st test with 4/88 and followed up with 4/118 in the 2nd innings before Rana thwarted England’s hopes. In the ODI series, she took 6 wickets to help England win the series.

As for the men’s nominees, 2 are from New Zealand and one from South Africa.

As expected both Devon Conway and Kyle Jamieson are at the forefront to get the award while De Cock has the figures to challenge them.

Conway is having a dream time in test cricket with 379 runs at 63 average. That included a double hundred on his test debut at Lords.

Jamieson had 10 test wickets at 17.40 average which included a match-winning 7 wickets in the WTC final vs India.

However, Quinton De Cock looked in peerless form in West Indies with 235 test runs at 118.50 and 135 T20 runs at 45, winning both the series.
