Smriti Mandhana delighted about the day-night test in Australia
Indian women are going to play their first-ever day-night test against a formidable Australia at WACA in Perth from September 30 to October 3. The tour also includes white-ball games in a 7 match tour.
The opportunity to play a day-night test has made India’s ace batsman Smriti Mandhana delighted.
Speaking to Cricinfo, Mandhana never thought that she will be a part of a day-night Test. She said she is used to watching the men’s day-night tests whenever they play.
This pink ball test will be India’s first test vs Australia in 15 years. It may be noted that Indian women will be playing their first test in 7 years when they play England at Bristol this coming June which will be followed by the pink ball test.
Smriti Mandhana delighted about the day-night test in Australia. Mandhana herself will be playing her 3rd test of her career next week after playing tests for the last time in 2014 vs England and South Africa and winning both the matches. She has scored 81 test runs in 3 innings with a top score of 51.
Mandhana added that she was excited to play her first day-night ODI and T20 match. So it will be a great moment to play a day-night test match in Australia.
However, she added that at present the team is focussed on England tour next. They will deal with the plans for the day-night test once the tour comes closer.
