Smith , Roy , Maxwell , Labuschagne  big names in IPL 2021 Auctions

The VIVO IPL 2021 auction list has been published .  292 players will go into the auction with 61 spots up for grabs accross the 8 franchisees.  Out of the total number of players going into auction are 164 Indians , 125 overseas players and 3 from associate nations. 

Some of the famous names in the top price bracket of 2 crores are  Harbhajan Singh ( released from CSK) , Steve Smith ( Captain of Rajasthan Royals in 2020 and now released) , Glen Maxwell ( released from Kings XI Punjab) , Jason Roy ( released from Delhi Capitals) , Shakib Al Hasan ( released from SRH)  and Kedar Jadhav ( released from CSK) .

There are some interesting overseas names coming up in auction this year .  From Australia , Marnus Labuschagne ( 1 crore base price) , Mathew Wade ( 1 cr) , Shaun Marsh ( 1.5 cr) , promising fast bowler Jhye Richardson (1.5 cr) and Ben McDermott ( 50 lac) .   Neil Wagner ( 50 lac) is a major name coming up from New Zealand .  Morne Morkel ( 1.50 cr) of South Africa is trying for an IPL comeback and Dawid Malan ( 1.50 cr) of England is looking for his maiden IPL team.

Nayan Doshi (England) , the 42 year old son of former Indian left arm spinner Dilip Doshi is one of the oldest foreign players who will be in auction in this IPL with a base price of 20 lacs 

From India , test specialist  Cheteshwar Pujara ( 50 cr) is an interesting name trying for an IPL comeback . Mohammed Azharuddeen of Kerala who created a name for himself in Syed Mustaq Ali tournament with his belligerent hitting this season  is looking for his IPL debut .

However the name which has attracted most eyeballs is of Arjun Tendulkar , the left arm fast bowler and  son of Sachin Tendulkar who will be looking for his IPL debut with a base price of 20 lacs .

Of the teams , Kings XI has the biggest purse of 53 crores approx followed by Rajasthan Royals at approx 38 crores and Royal Challengers Bangaluru at approx 35 crores .  Sunrisers has the lowest purse of just over 10 crores. 

The auction will take place at Chennai on 18th February 2021 at 3 PM .
