New Delhi: Swami Shraddhanand College entered the pre-quarter-finals of the 31st All India Hitkary Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament. Swami Shraddhanand College defeated T Aroha Tigers by 90 runs at Rashtriya Swabiman Khel Parisar ground. In the Swami Shraddhanand College victory, Sumit Mathur showed a brilliant all-round game (71 runs and 2 wickets) while Lakshya Thareja remained unbeaten on 77 runs And Aneesh Ali (19/4) bowled superbly.

Hitkary Company’s director Lovleen Malhotra conferred the Kuber Man of the Match award to Sumit Mathur. Special guests Ashish Khanna and Nitin Suri presented the Parky Consolation Award to Apoorva Walia and Aneesh Ali.

Batting first, Shraddhanand College started off brilliantly for the first wicket with Himanshu Rana (33) and Dhruv Kaushik (31) adding 71 runs. After this, Apoorva Walia took three wickets one after the other to put pressure on the college team, but Sumit Mathur and Lakshya Thareja added 128 runs for the fourth wicket to bring the team back in the match. Sumit Mathur scored 71 runs in 62 balls by hitting 2 sixes and 5 fours while Laksh Thareja’s unbeaten 77 from 82 balls with the help of three fours.

In reply, the Aroha Tigers team were bowled out for 159 runs in 33.3 overs in front of the superb bowling of Anish Ali. Aneesh took 4 wickets for 19 runs, while Sumit Mathur and Vikas Mishra got two wickets each. Siddhant Purohit scored 55 and Apoorva Walia scored 33 runs for Aroha Tigers.
