Shaun Tait reveals his best ODI XI
Shaun Tait is known to be one of the fastest bowlers that the world has seen. He was extremely quick with his peculiar slinging action & used to bowl comfortably over 150 kph. However he did not have a long career mainly due to injuries and also due to the presence of some great bowlers in Australia during his era.
Recently Shaun Tait revealed his best ODI XI which he mostly chose from players of his era. Therefore ODI greats like Vivian Richards, Javed Miandad, Kapil Dev and Dean Jones are probably not included.
For the opening slots he chose the belligerent Virender Sehwag and the dazzling Adam Gilchrist. Absolute daring combo for any bowling attack. Shaun Tait reveals his best ODI XI.
For the middle order he chose his former captain Ricky Ponting at 3 followed by two expected names. Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara and finally Virat Kohli. Kohli was the only player chosen whom Tait did not play in his era.
Tendulkar has normally been an opener in ODIs but Tait chose to keep him at number 4.
Tait surprised all by choosing 2 wicket keepers in the XI but probably kept Dhoni at 7 for his finishing expertise.
And finally the bowling attack is as good as it gets. He kept all the varieties there. Warne the expected leg spinner followed by left arm fast Wasim Akram and the ever accurate McGrath both expected choices.
And for the last bowling spot Shaun Tait chose one from his trade – Shoaib Akhtar to blast out opposition batsmen.
The final ODI XI of Shaun Tait as under :
Virender Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, Brain Lara, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Shane Warne, Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, Shoaib Akhtar.
