Shakib Al Hasan has been Bangladesh’s most successful player in IPL s and a very accomplished allrounder in the international circuit. In IPL he won the winners medal on 3 occasions with 2 different teams. With KKR he won in 2012 & 2014 and with Sunrisers he won in 2016 .
Recently Shakib has shared his best IPL XI which had a couple of big omissions.
For the openers, he chose Rohit Sharma and David Warner. Shakib’s one of the reasons for choosing Rohit is that he is the most successful captain in IPL. While Warner according to Shakib is the best overseas batsman.
For 3 and 4, Shakib picked the 2 highest run-getters in IPL, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina both of them are outstanding run-getters in IPL with Kohli crossing 6000 runs.
For the 5-6 spot Shakib chose the fastest 50 hitter in IPL, KL Rahul and the most successful captain MS Dhoni. For the 7th spot, he went with an allrounder and he chose the great Ben Stokes and followed with Ravindra Jadeja, the spin allrounder.
For the last 3 spots, Shakib has 3 excellent fast bowlers in Lasith Malinga , the yorker specialist , the similarly lethal Jasprit Bumrah and the swing king Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Finally, he chose the captain of the team in MS Dhoni for his massive success in IPL and for team India .
It may be noted that the two finest overseas batsmen who played in the IPL, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers did not feature in this XI. Shakib decided to keep Stokes to get his bowling stronger and also included only 3 overseas players in his best IPL XI
Shakib’s IPL XI as under
Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (captain and wk), KL Rahul, Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
