Shaheen Afridi (6/51) puts Pakistan in winning position in 2nd test
Superb left-arm fast bowling by Shaheen Afridi and skilful support from Mohammed Abbas put Pakistan in a winning position vs West Indies in the 2nd test at Kingston.
West Indies batters looked out of sorts against the skill of Mohammed Abbas who took 2 in 2 to dismiss Bonner (37) and Mayers (0) after nightwatchman Joseph was caught in the slips off Afridi.
Blackwood (33) tried to repair the damage but a short ball from Afridi was superbly directed as Blackwood fended a catch to point. Jason Holder (26) played impressive shots but once he was caught behind of Afridi, West Indies succumbed to 150 all out with Afridi (6/51) and Abbas (3/44) sharing the spoils. Pakistan batters scored rapidly in the 2nd innings with a declaration in the pipeline. The openers smashed 70 off 9.3 overs before Abid (29) was dismissed. Smart cameos from Imran Butt (37), Azhar Ali (22), Babar Azam (33) and Hassan Ali (17) took Pakistan to 176/6 before they declared setting Pakistan a 329 target.
The West Indies openers batted resolutely before Powell(23) was run out going for the 3rd run and Afridi’s throw hitting the stumps. At close, West Indies are 49/1 with one day remaining for this test.
On the 5th day, Pakistan will definitely go all out to win to square the series. West Indies will be happy with a draw as 329 target is beyond their fragile batting lineup.
