SAF v WI 1st test: South Africa hammers West Indies by an innings
The spineless approach of the West Indies in their 21st-century test cricket continues as they succumb to another horrible test defeat against a better side.
Already in the dumps at the end of the 2nd day, the home side meekly succumbed to 162 all-round and thus losing their last 6 wickets on the final day for just 80 runs.
Much was expected from Blackwood (13) and Holder (1) to put up some resistance but they were dismissed cheaply and despite a spirited fight shown by Roston Chase (62), the innings folded up quickly for South Africa to win by an innings and 63 runs. SAF v WI 1st test: South Africa hammers West Indies by an innings to take 1-0 series lead.
For the Proteas, Rabada (5/34) , Nortje (3/46) and Maharaj (2/23) took the spoils.
The speed and the skills of the South African pace attack was too much for this mediocre batting lineup of the West Indies .
Quinton De Kock for his sparkling 141 in a low scoring game was adjudged the man of the match
