Rishabh Pant reaches career-best 6th position in ICC test batting rankings
Rishabh Pant is the first wicketkeeper-batsman from India to reach an all-time high number 6th spot in the ICC world Test batting rankings for men. With his rise, he is now jointly at number 6 with Rohit Sharma of India and another left-hander Henry Nicholls of New Zealand with 747 points each. With this elevation, Pant has pushed down Pakistani batting star, Babar Azam to the 9th spot in the rankings
Kane Williamson maintains his top spot as the number 1 ranked test batsman with 919 points followed by Steve Smith at number 2 with 891 points. Rishabh Pant reaches career-best 6th position in ICC test batting rankings.
Prolific run-scorer Marnus Labuschagne is at 3rd spot with 878 points followed by England captain Joe Root and Indian captain Virat Kohli at 4th & 5th spots respectively.
Indian middle-order batters Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are at 14th and 15th spots respectively.
Rishabh Pant had a breakout series vs Australia after his comeback into the test team in that epic 2020-21 series in Australia. He scored a brilliant 97 in the 3rd test at Sydney which helped India to draw the test and keep the series scoreline 1-1. Finally, at Gabba, Pant’s magnificent run chase won the epic series for India on the 5th day with him scoring a dazzling 89 not out.
Pant followed his Australia success with another brilliant attacking 100 in the England series at home which India won convincingly to qualify for the World test Championships final to be held in June 2021 at Southampton in England.
