Remaining matches of IPL 2021 to be held from Sep 19 to Oct 15
The BCCI has finalised the dates of phase 2 of IPL 2021. Whereby the remaining matches will be held from 19 September to 15 October 2021. Hence BCCI has found a 27-day window to complete the remaining 31 matches.
Earlier October 10 was the tentative date for the final but BCCI has deferred the end by 5 more days to avoid playing too many doubleheaders in the afternoon heat of UAE.
Remaining matches of IPL 2021 to be held from Sep 19 to Oct 15. The top BCCI officials are in Dubai to finalise all plans.
Thus with the dates finalised, the next big challenge of the BCCI will be to get the availability of the foreign players with the world cup around the corner immediately after IPL.
Already England and Bangladesh have confirmed the unavailability of their players due to their international engagements and quarantine protocols. Australia and New Zealand have not yet confirmed their players’ availability. BCCI are in talks with the West Indies board. To push forward the CPL by a week. So that the West Indies and South African players playing at the CPL are available for their IPL franchises to start playing IPL from 19 September onwards.
However, with ECB not allowing England players. Teams like Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to look out for new replacements.
