MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is going to echo with the loudest of appeals today as the 10th match of the 14th edition of IPL is scheduled to take place here. The match is between the two of the strongest and most competitive teams which makes it all the more interesting. Today Royal Challengers Bangalore would appear on the field to take on Kolkata Knight Riders and the level of excitement that these two names generate is easy to imagine.
RCB would try to keep the record intact
Royal Challengers Bangalore, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, seems to be on fire. This is the only IPL team in this season till now which has managed to stay invincible. With 2 wins in their kitty, RCB is going strong and why not, they have the mightiest bowling attack which has been highly impressive this season. Australian cricketer, Glenn Maxwell’s addition has also worked in the favor of RCB as the player has been doing wonders, especially alongside star batsman AB de Villiers.
Though, the same cannot be said by the Indian star players. Yes, Virat Kohli and Yuzvendra Chahal who were expected to turn the tables for the team have not been able to do much. Looking at their records, the fans have all the reasons to believe that it’s only a matter of time before they bounce back and provide a balanced side to the team. There is denying that Bangalore would fight tooth and nail to maintain their unbeaten status.
KKR looks more balanced
Kolkata Knight Riders would have to go for a different strategy as their start in the IPL this year has not been all good. KKR started with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad but the next match did not bring the joy of victory. SRH succumbed to loss in front of Mumbai Indians. This loss brought all eyes to their crumbling middle order which became the reason for defeat despite all the efforts and dominating proceedings for the large part of the game. This is something KKR would not like to repeat.
Nitish Rana and Andre Russell are giving the team power, starring with bat and ball respectively. Captain Eoin Morgan has not performed to his capacity yet and is due for big knocks. Fans would expect him to do what he is known for during this match. The same expectations linger on Shubhman Gill who has not been great in the previous matches.
KKR looks stronger than ever and seems to be more balanced than RCB but looking at RCB one can say that they have brought a change in the team. But the change would not be enough if RCB is looking forward to creating a hat-trick.
2 points that would be awarded to the winning team and potentially the top place on the points table are up for grabs and only the best team would take it all.
