RCB v SRH : English duo blow away RCB to help Punjab hang on for a playoffs spot

The 60th match of IPL 2022 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings.  In this match, RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bowl first.  Punjab Kings set a target of 210 runs to win the RCB team, which RCB team could not achieve and lost the match by 54 runs.

Put into bat first , Punjab Kings openers Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow played a big partnership of 60 runs.  Shikhar Dhawan contributed 21 runs in 15 balls while Jonny Bairstow launched a fierce assault .  He hit a blistering  half century and scored 66 runs in 29 balls, which included 7 fours and 1 six.  Bhanuka Rajapakse scored 1 run.  Captain Mayank Agarwal scored 19 runs in 16 balls.  Jitesh Sharma scored 9 runs in 5 balls but Liam Livingstone batted in breathtaking  fashion and scored 70 runs in 42 balls, which included five fours and two sixes. It was a truly magnificent innings.

 Skillful fast bowler Wanindu Hasaranga showed a great game in the match.  He took 2 wickets for 15 runs in his four overs.  He proved to be very economical.  Shahbaz Ahmed took 1 wicket for 40 runs in four overs.  Glenn Maxwell took one wicket for 17 runs in two overs.  Maxwell clean bowled Shikhar Dhawan looking dangerous.  Harshal Patel took two wickets in the last over.  Patel took 4 wickets for 34 runs in four overs a d bowled superbly in slog overs yet again . However Josh Hazlewood (0/64 in 4 overs ) and Mohammed Siraj (0/36 in 2 overs ) got ruthlessly hammered by the English duo.  

 The RCB team had a very poor start in their innings , when Virat Kohli could not play a big innings once again.  He scored 20 runs in 14 balls and was initially looking good before was caught down the leg side off Rabada .  Captain Faf du Plessis scored 10 runs in 8 balls and Mahipal Lomror scored 6 runs as first 3 wickets fell rapidly.   Rajat Patidar scored 26 runs in 21 balls and   Glenn Maxwell scored 35 runs in 22 balls to get into a good partnership but again wickets falling in clusters rattled RCB . Later Dinesh Karthik scored 11 runs and could not produce his famous finish   Shahbaz Ahmed (9) , Harshal Patel (11) and Wanindu Hasaranga (1) all failed  . No batsman could play a big innings from RCB team.  Because of this the team had to face defeat.

 Kagiso Rabada bowled very well in the match.  He took 3 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs while Rishi Dhawan also played him well.  Dhawan took 2 wickets for 36 runs in four overs,  Harpreet Brar took 1 wicket for 33 runs in four overs and  Rahul Chahar took 2 wickets for 37 runs in 4 overs.  Arshdeep Singh bowled economical in the match.  He took 1 wicket for 27 runs in four overs and once again proved his skills in slog overs .
Jonny Bairstow for his belligerent  innings which gave Punjab  an electrifying  start , was the man of the match .
