Royal Challengers Bangaluru has finally come up with big announcements as they get ready for their departure to UAE on 29th August.
They have made 3 big buys as replacements:-
Wahindu Hasaranga replaces Adam Zampa in the leg spinners slot. Zampa is unavailable for the remainder of this IPL.
Dushmanta Chameera replaces Kane Richardson who wants to focus on World cup T20I
Tim David replaces Finn Allen of New Zealand .
Hasaranga and Chameera came up with stellar performances in the recent Jbdia v Srilanka white ball duels. Chameera bowled with pace and hostility while Hasaranga tormented the Indian batting with his leg-spin skills. He also showed his batting ability.
Tim David is an unfamiliar name. He is a Singapore based Australian who has played international cricket for Singapore and has played for Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL . Currently, he is scoring heavily in the Royal London ODI event in England and is a fine attacking batsman and a change bowler.
Another development for RCB is that Simon Katich will not be present in UAE for personal reasons and hence Mike Hesson will double up as the Head Coach.
Hasaranga has expressed his delight for being a part of RCB . He said :
“From sitting at home and watching them, to being a part of an amazing team (RCB). I am excited, honoured and thrilled all at once.”
Mike Hesson seems to be happy with the way things are shaping up as he gets ready for the second phase.
“The addition of Wahindu Hasaranga, Tim David and Dushmantha Chameera couldn’t have come at a better time in the replacement window, as we aim to continue with the momentum, building on our performance from earlier this year,” Hesson said
RCB’s Overseas players for IPL 2021 in UAE are:-
Ab De Villiers.
Till now there were no Sri Lankans in IPL 2021. Hasaranga and Chameera has changed that with their stellar shows vs India.
The Indian players in the RCB squad ( except the players in England test squad) will undergo a 7-day quarantine in Bangaluru before flying off to UAE on 29 August.
