Ravindra Jadeja roars back with 2nd innings wkts to announce his bowling form

India has to play an important four-match Test series against Australia next month.  This series is very important for India to reach the final of the World Test Championship.  India will have to win at least two matches against Australia under any circumstances.  Since the series is in India, then the role of spin will be important .  The selectors have included four spinners in Team India for this series.  Ravindra Jadeja’s name is also included in these.  However, his selection in the team will be based on his fitness.

 Jadeja is currently playing a Ranji match for Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu in Chennai.  Jadeja, who is returning to the field after five months, had a disappointing first innings in both bowling and batting but now has wreaked havoc with the ball against Tamil Nadu.  He has taken seven wickets for 53 runs in 17.1 overs in the second innings and has indicated his return to form .  Along with this, Australia has also been served a warning .  Saurashtra got a target of 266 runs thanks to Jadeja’s brilliant bowling.  By the end of the third day’s play, Saurashtra have scored four runs losing one wicket.

 Jadeja was injured during the Asia Cup in September last year.  He was dropped from Team India in the middle of the tournament itself.  Since then, Akshar Patel has been playing in his place in the team as a left-arm spinner.  However, in the Test series against Australia, the team management may go with three spinners.  Apart from Jadeja, there are Akshar, Ashwin and Kuldeep in the squad.

 Talking about the Ranji match, Tamil Nadu scored 324 runs in their first innings while batting first.  Captain Ravindra Jadeja could not do anything special in this innings and could take only one wicket.  In response, the entire Saurashtra team was reduced to 192 runs in the first innings and Jades was out cheaply for 15 .  In the second innings, Jadeja wreaked havoc and sent seven batsmen to the pavilion.  These include the wickets of Shahrukh Khan (2), Indrajit (28), Pradosh Paul (8), Vijay Shankar (10), Ajit Ram (7), M Siddharth (17) and Sandeep Warrier (4).

 In this way, Tamil Nadu was reduced to 133 runs in the second innings and Saurashtra got the target of 266 runs.  Harvik Desai (3) and Chetan Sakaria are currently unbeaten in the second innings for Saurashtra.  Jai Gohil returned to the pavilion without opening an account.  The BCCI will decide on Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness to take part in the Border-Gavaskar series on February 1.  Only then will the NCA report on his fitness level be available.


  Jadeja will report to the NCA after the Ranji match.  The selectors and team management will take a call on his availability before the pre-series camp begins in India’s Nagpur from February 2.  The first match of the four-Test series will be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium from February 9.
