Ravi Shastri covid positive & isolated with 3 other team staff
India’s head coach Ravi Shastri was found to be covid positive after his lateral flow tests at London today . This has resulted in his isolation along with 3 other members of the team with whom he was in closest contact .
Bharat Arun, the Bowling Coach, R. Sridhar, the Fielding Coach and Nitin Patel, the Physiotherapist has also been isolated along with Ravi Shastri & this means that there is no medical staff available with the Indian team currently in Nitin Patel’s absence.
The players and other members of the team underwent two Lateral Flow Tests one last night and another this morning. On being found negative , they were allowed to proceed with the 4th days play at the Oval which is very evenly poised .
India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour is the only member of the coaching staff who has remained with the team.
India starting at 270/3 has lost the wickets of Jadeja , Rahane & Kohli to reach 312/6 , a lead of 213 .
The BCCI circular in this effect is as under :
“The BCCI Medical Team has isolated Mr Ravi Shastri, Head Coach, Mr B. Arun, Bowling Coach, Mr R. Sridhar, Fielding Coach and Mr Nitin Patel, Physiotherapist as a precautionary measure after Mr Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive last evening.”They have undergone RT-PCR testing and shall remain in the team hotel and not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team.
“The remaining members of the Team India contingent underwent two Lateral Flow Tests one last night and another this morning. The members upon returning negative COVID reports were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval,”
