Ravi Ashwin rumoured to be the senior player to complain against Kohli to BCCI

While the IPL is on in full swing with the business end approaching , lots of news / rumours are doing the air which seems to suggest that all is not well in Team India dressing room .

It has come to light several weeks ago that Virat Kohli has accused a senior player of not showing enough intent during the WTC final . It is not clear on the identity of the player but but there are some sources that have indicated that Ravichandran Ashwin is the senior cricketer who has complained about Virat Kohli to BCCI  for making him ” insecure” .
It may be recalled the Ashwin played in the WTC final that India lost . Kohli was understandably unhappy with the result and had accused a senior player for not showing intent.  Later India played a 5 test series vs England and Ashwin was not included in any of the tests as Kohli preferred to play four fast bowlers and Jadeja ahead of Ashwin . It is said that even Ravi Shastri wanted to play Ashwin in the 4th test but Virat did not pay heed .  As we know the 5th test had to be cancelled due to covid scares in the Indian camp and the series is unfinished with India leading 2-1.

Ashwin’s exclusion was not taken too well in cricket circles and as if that was not enough , more drama unfolded after India’s T20I squad was announced . It was said that Rohit Sharma apparently played a big part in getting Ashwin in  the T20I world cup squad while Kohli was more inclined on his RCB teammate Yazuvendra Chahal’s inclusion but Chahal was not taken in the squad.  This followed two more bombshells , the inclusion  of Dhoni into the team as a mentor and Virat Kohli’s announcement of stepping down as T20 captain citing workload pressure .

Sources indicated that Dhoni’s appointment was done without Kohli being consulted and this showed that BCCI was not entirely comfortable  with Kohli’s captaincy as he failed to win any ICC event during his captaincy tenure.  It is also said that Kohli leaving the T20I captaincy has much to do with BCCI pressure .

Now with the latest rumoured development of Kohli – Ashwin controversy ,it appears that all is not well in team India circles.
