Ramesh Powar praises Mithali Raj for her matching knock in final ODI
Mithali Raj’s match-winning 75 not out off 86 balls has come in for her praise across cricket circles. It was an innings played on a pitch with was giving enough assistance to the bowlers right through and the 37-year-old captain produce immense powers of concentration and application and used all her experience to take the team over the line carrying a brittle middle-order on the shoulders.
Indian team head coach Ramesh Power who only in 2019 had an ugly spat with Mithali Raj apparently with her batting slot in the team culminating in his removal from the coaches’ post that year till he was reinstate back this year, was all praise for the Indian captain. Ramesh Powar praises Mithali Raj for her matching knock in final ODI.
“I think she deserves every praising word out there. She has been a fantastic servant of the game. 22 years of cricket and I think she is a role model for a lot of our girls. She has single-handedly won us the game. Chasing 220 on a low bounce track, she took us over the line.” Powar said.
The praise from Power on his team’s captain should rest all doubts of any remaining issues on their relationships which turned out to be a big issue two seasons ago.
Mithali during that knock became the highest aggregate run-getter across formats surpassing Charlotte Edwards. She now aggregates 10273 runs in women internationals.
