Rajasthan Royals team analysis

After their fairy tale win in the inaugural IPL in 2008, Rajasthan Royals failed to add to their title subsequently and had performed poorly in last two seasons inspite of possessing some great match winners

The Royals have released their Captain Steve Smith and made Sanju Samson as their New Captain. Samson will lead an IPL  franchise for the first time.

Under-19 heroes like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Kartik Tyagi  played IPL 2021 for the first time last year but were not up to the mark.  As Royals trust the young guns , players like them will get more game time in the upcoming season. Rajasthan Royals have more matches in Mumbai and Delhi followed by Kolkata and Bengaluru. Strengths

Royals have decent foreign match winners in form of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and newly added Chris Morris.
Explosive batting unit and depth in batting order can be their key to success.  They should try to get Ben Stokes play maximum overs and bat Samson at 3 to optimize their batting talent.

Weakness

Jofra Archer one of the key player in RR setup and bowling unit is set to miss the first half of IPL at least. A lot will depend on Tye, Mustafizur and Morris and all three of them had their form swings.

Morris was bought at 16 crores in auction and will be under pressure to perform due to high price tag.  Though he had a decent season in 2020 with the ball with RCB ,  his batting has not fired after his initial season in IPL.

Jaydev Unadkat is yet to perform consistently for the Royals.

Bowling concerns need to be sorted if Royals want to make a bigger impact the IPL.

Also in batting young Jaiswal has not quite fired at the top order for Royals yet who also have Manan Vohra as other option. Thus the Indian opener is a weaker area and one of them needs to fire soon.

Chances : Will require lot of hard work and consistency to reach playoffs
