Previews SRH v RR & DC v PBKS. 2nd May we have the weekend doubleheaders. Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad clash against each other in a match important for both teams. The team losing this game will virtually lose their playoff chances. Similarly Punjab dearly needs a win in their derby clash against Delhi IPL 2021.
RR v SRH
This game will be high on focus specially after the structural changes in the SRH team.
Rajasthan needs improvement in their bowling after they could not challenge the Mumbai Indians. The bowlers as a whole are not showing enough penetration to rattle the opposition which invariably is putting pressure on their batting as they are requiring to set ideally bigger targets to put pressure on the opposition. Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes’absence have definitely dented their bowling resources to a great extent .
Their batsmen need to be more ruthless and should not be satisfied with their 30s or 40s. Dube and Parag need to deliver more with the bat in the middle order. Buttler needs to extend his starts.
Rajasthan is up against a fragile Sunrisers team which is not only struggling but now have effected a change of captain . Kane Williamson will be leading the team as the Sunrisers Management has decided to absolve an out of form Warner from the captaincy duties.
This step of captaincy change can help Sunrisers to replace an out of form Warner with another good overseas resource like Holder (to improve bowling ) or Roy ( to improve opening slot). SRH will also hope to have Bhuvneswar Kumar back to lead the bowling. Bhuvi was having an injury niggle and hopes to return soon. Above all the SRH middle order needs to fire more and they cannot leave everything on the new captain Kane Williamson. Previews SRH v RR & DC v PBKS.
With the match being played in Delhi, it is expected that the team winning the toss will field first.
SRH : Roy/ Holder , Bairstow , Pandey, Williamson , Shankar , Samad , Rashid , Bhuvneshwar, Khaleel , S Kaul , Nadeem
RR : Jaiswal , Buttler , Samson , Miller , Dube , Parag , Tewatia ,Morris , Unadkat , Sakariya , Mustafizur
DC v PBKS
Both the teams are starting their return games. The first leg game between the two ended with a win for Delhi Capitals in a big chase of 190 plus target.
Delhi looks like a settled team. However, they might miss Ashwin in this game with Gayle in the opposition. Ashwin has a good success rate against Gayle. With Shaw, Dhawan , Pant amongst the runs and a strong and varied bowling attack to challenge the opposition Delhi looks favourites but will be challenged by a more confident Punjab.
Punjab Kings had two great wins over two top four teams like Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangaluru . Their confident win over RCB should give them lots of hope going forward.
In the batting scheme of things, Nicholas Pooran is having a horror run and now is the time to replace him with Dawid Malan. The bowling looked outstanding vs RCB with both the spinners Bishnoi and Brar choking the RCB batting. Harpreet Brar had an outstanding match against RCB and will be high on confidence. The fast bowlers were aggressive and looked for wickets. Hence, Punjab Kings looks in a good momentum and full of confidence as they get ready to face the Delhi Capitals in the 2nd North Indian derby of the season.
