Prasidh Krishna , the 25-year-old quick bowler from Karnataka. Who was travelling with the Indian squad as a stand by and a net bowler. Has been drafted into the Indian test squad for the remaining 2 tests against England.
The Indian selection committee has added Prasidh to the squad at the request of the tour management in England.
Krishna who plays Ranji Trophy for Karnataka and is a KKR player in the IPL has earlier in the year impressed the experts with his extra pace in the ODI series vs England at home. He took 6 wickets in 3 matches with a best of 4/54 helping India in winning the series. In that series he constantly bowled quick at speeds in excess of 140 kph
In a fledging first-class career Prasidh has taken 34 wickets in 9 matches at 20 average which is impressive statistics.
He has also taken 87 wickets in 55 List A matches at 23 average. Prasidh Krishna added to the Indian squad for the rest of the England test series.
Several years ago it was in 2017 when, as part of the IDBI Federal Bowling Foundation, Krishna travelled to Australia along with three others to train with Jeff Thomson, the Australian pace bowling icon of the 1970s that many youngsters still want to emulate.
His stint at the CA academy was beneficial in enhancing his skills.
Though it currently looks difficult for Prasidh to break into the first XI with bowlers like Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur waiting in the wings, this inclusion is a significant move towards enhancing his test credentials for the future.
