Ponting feels Australia has issues with finishers in T20I

With the T20I World cup scheduled from October 2021, Ricky Ponting feels that Australia needs to find out ways of finding quality finishers who score big in the slog overs.

Ponting said Australia need to find finishers like Dhoni, Hardik Pandya or Pollard who have been very consistent over the years and very adept at scoring 50 plus in the last 4 overs.

Ponting feels Australia has issues with finishers in T20I. There can be such situations when the team needs 50 plus. I last 4 overs to win a game, and therefore power hitters at the back end are required.

Ponting feels that any one of Maxwell, Stoinis or Mitchell Marsh can be the most likely candidates. Who can be entrusted with this job of plugging this grey area in the Australian XI. Which has struggled in the past to score big runs in the final 3-4 overs.

Australia will begin their T20I World cup preparations with tours of West Indies and Bangladesh from July onwards.
