Surayakumar Yadav recalls his long journey to Team India

India vs Sri Lanka ODI ended great for the Indian tea as the team clinched the title defeating Sri Lanka 2-1. The young team proved to be impressive and gave its best to win the trophy. Prithvi Shaw, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar, and Yuzvendra Chahal put forth splendid performance and management sure would not forget soon.

India could not win the last match though by that time the team had sealed the series. India made 6 changes before the 3rd match of the ODI series which proved to be the downfall of the team. lost 3 wickets after the middle order had come crashing down and then there was no hope. Shaw still was outstanding in his game as he hit 49 runs off 49 balls. 

Surayakumar Yadav who was awarded ‘Player of the Series’ praised Shaw wholeheartedly for his performance and called him a ‘showstopper’. He also told the fans how Shaw had worked really hard on his fitness. He said that he wanted the player to stay the same as he was batting really well and his attitude was “pretty nice as well”.

When Suraykumar Yadav was asked about his plans he said that he was no different from the players who want to play for India. He also recalled all the efforts, grind, and patience that it had taken to finally get this opportunity. He did not express any regret rather he said that he was grateful for the journey. Now where he will go lies in his hands. He expressed his sadness over not being able to finish the game during the 3rd ODI. But this is how a player learns to move forward as per Yadav.

 Yadav said that he had always been batting the same way.


ut when he joined Mumbai Indians in 2018, he came to realize his responsibilities. That’s when he started to participate more. He said that he was happy where he was today and the way things have started to shape up. He said that he is planning to follow his routine and keep things simple.
