Performance ratings of Indian players  in Sri Lankan tour

The Indian white-ball tour of Sri Lanka is over. India won the ODI series 2-1 while lost the T20I series 1-2. This was a great opportunity to test the Indian white-ball bench strength as the senior team is away in England. There have been some encouraging performances as well as not so pleasing ones.

Let us rate the Indian players on a scale of 10 on the basis Performance ratings of Indian players  in Sri Lankan tour.

Shikhar Dhawan ( 6.5 /10) Dhawan has batted well on this tour in at least 3 matches. However, he could not strengthen his credentials for the T20 World cup. His captaincy was reasonable but a good score was needed from him in the final T20I with only 5 batters in the XI.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (7/10) Was the man of the match in the first T20I with 4 wickets. Batted superbly with Deepak Chahar to bring India victory from a losing position in the 2nd ODI. Did leak crucial runs in a couple of games.

Prithvi Shaw ( 6.5/10) Looked in great touch but could not get big scores. Failed on his T20 debut being dismissed to an unplayable delivery before covid issues in the camp ruled him out of the final two T20Is.

Ishan Kishan (6.5/10) Played superbly in the first ODI & was decent in the lone T20 before going into covid related isolation & did not play last 2 T20Is

Surya Kumar Yadav (8.5/10) Surya further enhanced his reputation on this tour and performed brilliantly in all the games. Need to convert his sparkling fifties into big centuries.

Manish Pandey (4/10) Played in the ODIs. Was shaping up well in 2nd game before getting runout. Otherwise mediocre series for him

Ruturaj Gaekwad (3 /10) Debut series. Played in the final two T20Is. could not capitalise on his confident looking starts when the team needed most.

Devdutt Paddikal (2/10) Debut series and lots of expectations after his IPL heroics with RCB but struggled against spin. Failed to capitalise on his great opportunities to perform.

Hardik Pandya (3/10)  Hardik looks out of touch in all facets of the game and still looked to have not reached full fitness.

Krunal Pandya ( 7/10) Performed well in whatever opportunities he had with bat and ball before getting covid infected and going into quarantine.

Navdeep Saini (1/10) His only contribution was some useful runs with the bat in the 3rd ODI. Looked below par as a bowler & got injured in 2nd T20I

Rahul Chahar (9/10)
Was amazing with the ball whenever he had his opportunity. Had the Sri Lankan batters in trouble with his bowling skills and showed great temperament under pressure. Definite contender to feature in the T20 world cup.

Deepak Chahar (9/10) Ensured that the Chahars had a great tour. He was outstanding with the bat in the 2nd ODI winning the match from the dead. Bowled with skills and picked up regular wickets. Could be a great all-round prospect.

Chetan Sakariya ( 5/10)
Debut tour. Was good in the ODI but average in the T20I in which he bowled. Need to gain more experience.

Kuldeep Yadav ( 7/10) A lot of focus was on him and he did not disappoint in this tour, picking up crucial wickets. Batted well in adversity in final T20. Needs to keep up his consistency to get back the confidence of the selectors.

Varun Chakravarthy (6.5/10) Varun bowled well overall in the T20s. Has been economical. In contention for the T20I world cup.

Yazuvendra Chahal (8.5/10)
Was back in his elements in this tour. Bowled with control and was a threat. Missed out on the final two T20s due to isolation.

Sanju Samson (4 /10)  Failed to make his starts count with scores of 46 & 27 in 3rd ODI & 1st T20I respectively. Flopped miserably in the final two T20Is failing to read the deliveries of opponent spinners when the team needed his skills the most.  Spurned great opportunities to succeed.

Nitish Rana (1/10) Rana did not perform in the oppurtunities that were provided.

K Gowtham (1/10) Gowtham failed to use the oppurtunities that were provided
