Pakistan beat West Indies in a thriller in 2nd T20I
Fine batting by Rizwan & Babar and brilliant spin bowling by Hafeez enabled Pakistan to beat West Indies in a thriller in the 2nd T20I after the 1st game was wash out following 9 overs of play.
Pakistan after being sent in to bat opened with Sharjeel Khan and Rizwan. After a 46 run rapid opening stand, Pakistan lost aggressive Sharjeel caught at mid-on off Holder. Rizwan and Babar then got together in a productive stand.
Rizwan was hitting on both sides of the wicket by using the crease judiciously and Babar was playing sparking shots. Together they added 67 till Rizwan (46) was run out. At 134/2 after 16 overs it looked like Pakistan will reach around 180. However, Babar ‘s(51) dismissal triggered a collapse and Pakistan could not drive home the advantage managing to get only 157/8 in 20 overs. Pakistan beat West Indies in a thriller in 2nd T20I.
For the West Indies both spinners Hosein and Walsh were economical but it was Holder (4/26) and Bravo (2/24) who created more impact with judicious usage of slower balls in their respective 4 overs.
However, Pakistan hit back instantly with Hafeez getting Flecher (0) bowl off the 2nd ball. Gayle (16) was bowled by Hassan Ali before he could change gears. Lewis and Heytmer could not force the face with the latter getting out for 18. Lewis (36) had to retire due to stomach cramps before he could unleash himself and everything seems to be falling together for Pakistan.
With asking rate climbing, Pooran decided to unleash himself and played a breathtaking knock of 62 not out of 33 balls with 6 huge sixes. He almost singlehandedly took up the challenge to take the hosts over the line. Finally, the Windies needed 20 off the last over from Shaheen. Pollard (14) could not force the pace and was out in the last over and by the time Pooran hit a 4 and a 6 it was too late for Windies as they lost by 7 runs.
For Pakistan Hasan Ali and Shadab bowled well but it was the off break of Hafeez which caused the biggest problem for the Windies as they could not launch into him at all. With incredible figures of 4-1-6-1 , Hafeez was the man of the match.
The biggest disappointment for the West Indies was that they just could not force the win even after having 6 wickets in the hut.
